This year turned out a lot differently than we all expected. When quarantine rules came into place, everyone started looking for productive activities they could do at home to pass the time. As soon as spring hit, gardening became a hobby everyone jumped on. If you’ve ever tasted garden-fresh vegetables, you know how incredible they are. Sweet, juicy and full of flavour, there’s really nothing like them. 
It’s important to adjust our lifestyles in times of need. Taking on new hobbies and interests can be very beneficial to your health and happiness, and gardening is one of the most rewarding things you can do. How to Start a Garden
If you’re new to the world of gardening, it may seem overwhelming, but with a few tips, you’ll be ready to go. First of all, you need to choose a spot and plot size for your garden. Even if you have a big yard, it’s best to start small for your first garden. Make sure your garden is on flat ground and don’t forget to leave paths that allow you to access your plants to weed and harvest. 
Base your garden choices on foods your family actually eats. If you don’t eat cabbage, don’t plant it! Also, be realistic about the amount of vegetables you’ll eat and make sure not to overplant. The more fertile the soil, the better your vegetables and herbs will grow, so add organic matter to what’s already in your yard. Do your research on how often you should water your picks, but keep in mind that you should never allow seeds to dry out, so if you’re starting with seedlings, water them daily.  
Garden Ideas for Small Spaces 
Living in a condo or townhome without a big yard doesn’t mean you can’t have a garden. You can grow almost anything in a tiny garden, from peppers to eggplants to tomatoes. Use containers, pots or miniature raised beds, and place them anywhere that gets six to eight hours of sunlight per day. Your balcony, an area of your small backyard, or a spot on your deck will do the trick! There are patio varieties of many of your favourite veggies that allow you to grow your own, no matter the size of your space.
