Her model was and always will be ''Don't follow someone else's story; create your own story, create your own lifestyle, because 'home is where your story begins.'''  From a single realtor, to developing a strong team of realtors she personally mentored and later owning a real estate brokerage firm, Nina's focus remained the same. She continues to channel her high energy and extensive experience into understanding her client's needs and wants, and in helping them in their real estate journey. Nina's greatest honour is the trust others grant her when welcoming her in their life's journey.

Bedrooms are typically the coziest rooms in the home, with big plush pillows, soft bedding and luxurious window coverings. But if modern decor is the style you want, that’s probably not the look you’re going for. Don’t get me wrong, you don’t have to eliminate all the coziness from a modern bedroom, but the way you decorate a modern room will be different than say, a glam, classic or elegant bedroom. Modern spaces are simple and unadorned, incorporating natural materials and earthy colours, while discarding any unnecessary details. Here’s a guide to modern bedroom decor so you can get the look!

1. Add in Natural Materials
Natural materials like wood can look striking in a bedroom. Elements like a plywood headboard and wooden floorboard create a modern aesthetic that adds a touch of warmth, but is also incredibly sleek. You can also consider a wood statement wall for your modern room. Other natural elements you can work in for a modern aesthetic are standard greenery and planting.

2. Invest in a Floating Bed
Nothing says modern quite like a floating bed. It can help create a minimal aesthetic and elevate your bedroom to the next level. The design of a floating bed feels fresh and light, with clean, well-defined lines that make it a must in a modern bedroom. It will make your room look more open and airy, and give it more of a minimalistic feel.

3. Increase Natural Light
Another way to create a modern bedroom is to let in as much natural light as possible. You don’t have to leave your windows completely unadorned (unless you want to), but opt for minimal window dressings or window treatments that don’t interfere with the sun shining in. Natural light opens up your space, illuminating focus on your gorgeous bedroom decor.

4. Furniture and Light Fixtures
Your furniture and light fixtures will play a huge part in helping you create a modern design. Furniture like armchairs, bedside tables and dressers should have that contemporary mid-century feel with unique design elements. Think: bronze-and-leather end tables at each side of your bed. And for the ultimate modern look, your light fixtures should combine sleek finishes like chrome and brushed steel with timeless materials like black and wood!

5. Use a Soft, Earthy Palette
Your bedroom should be a place that feels calm and tranquil; a place you can’t wait to relax in after a busy day. Soft, earthy colours like cool greys, ivory, taupe and even pale rose help to create a modern retreat you’ll love coming home to. Add in textured fabrics and warm decor like a wool rug to enhance comfort, yet still give off a modern feel.

Creating a modern bedroom design doesn’t have to be a difficult task. Use these tips to help you get the look you want!
