Whether you work in the world of interior design, or are a design-savvy consumer, Toronto’s Interior Design Show (IDS) is coming up and it’s an absolutemust-visit. Running from January 16 to 19 at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre, the IDS brings together over 53,000 of the world’s leading products, companies and changemakers to inspire and transform the future of design. Celebrating its 22nd year, the design show has been visited by over 700,000 design professionals, consumers and media. It’s known as a design industry hub, with world-renowned keynote speakers from the design and architectural fields, plus must-see products, installations, phototypes and so much more. Here’s what you need to know about the upcoming show.
IDS Trade Days
The IDS Trade Days will be running on Thursday January 16 and Friday January 17, and this year, the entire show floor will be open. Trade Days allow trade professionals to connect with over 14,000 designers, architects, purchasing executives, builders, developers, owners and managers.The Trade Days also include IDS Contract, a conference made up of over 60 seminars and keynotes, created to help transform your business. Focusing on everything to do with design, from healthcare and hospitality to retail, education and public space, the conference is ideal for anyone in the design industry. Please note that IDS Trade Days are only open to trade professionals.
IDS Public Days
Saturday January 18 and Sunday January 19 are IDS Public Days, meaning anyone can attend- you don’t have to be a trade professional. Saturday will offer compelling concepts, innovative products, upcoming talent and key experts in the industry. You will be immersed in the legacy of our past and the products of today that will shape our future. Hear from design speakers including critically acclaimed Canadian production designer, Paul Austerberry; potter, designer and author, Johnathon Adler; renowned architect, Omar Gandhi, and more.
On Sunday, you’ll have the chance to see and listen to Canadian and international design personalities and celebrities up close and personal. You’ll get to experience the importance of design first hand and take part in a larger conversation about design. Sunday’s speakers include interior designers Brian Gluckstein and Lynda Reeves; acclaimed designers and curators, Dexter and Byron Peart of Goodee; and designer Emily Griffin.Click here for the entire speaker schedule.
On the night of Thursday the 16th, the IDS will be throwing an opening night party and preview. Notably the biggest design party of the year, it brings together over 6,000 design lovers for a night of celebration. You’ll be the first to preview the show and get to mingle with the design community and fellow design aficionados.
